The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bicycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was officially opened in the year 2000 as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital.

Inauguration of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) along with hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin's Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin declared that the Kerem Tunnel project was a important tool to realize the goal of shifting the idea of transportation in Jerusalem.  נווה פריצקי "The new tunnel connecting to the Jerusalem Ring Path will join existing bicycle paths and ones that are paved in the neighborhoods. The current projects include road construction, installation blowers and sophisticated security systems to ensure the tunnel is safe for everyone to use all year.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation spots which include the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo and aquarium as well as the historic natural springs in Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
